Heily Ramos and her selected artwork

Wakulla County Schools is thrilled to announce that Heily Ramos, a 6th-grade student at Riversprings Middle School, has been selected to represent Wakulla County in the prestigious Art in the Capitol Competition.

Heily’s artwork was chosen through the statewide visual arts competition authorized by Section 1003.49965, Florida Statutes, which invites students in grades 6–8 from public, charter, private, and home education settings to submit original pieces. Each district selects one winning submission, judged by a committee of art educators who do not have students participating in the contest.

Heily’s winning artwork, titled "A Place Like No Other," will be presented to Representative Jason Shoaf, who will proudly submit it to the Florida Capitol on behalf of Wakulla County. Her piece will be displayed throughout the 2026 Legislative Session, beginning January 13, 2026, allowing lawmakers, visitors, and officials from across the state to enjoy her creativity and talent.

Congratulations to Heily on this outstanding achievement and celebrates the artistic excellence she brings to our community. We look forward to seeing her work shine in the halls of the Capitol!
