Wakulla High School invites FWC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission)

Ms. Post’s Marine Science classes are currently learning about the different taxonomic classifications of marine fish, including Osteichthyes, the class to which the lionfish belongs. Ms. Post invited Mr. Tony Hart, the head of the lionfish program at FWC to inform students how lionfish behave, invade territories, why it is important to battle the lionfish, and how they accomplish that.

Last week, our Culinary students rolled up their sleeves and planted fresh lettuce and herbs in the atrium — now proudly renamed The Hideaway Garden. 🌿

The produce planted began as seeds in the classroom’s hydroponic garden, making this a true seed-to-table experience. Students will continue adding to the garden in the coming weeks, and we can’t wait to watch it grow — and enjoy the harvest ahead. 🌱

🌎 Let’s Celebrate Inclusion on Wednesday, March 4!

What does inclusion look like?

It’s a high five in the hallway.
A compliment to a classmate.
Saying hello to someone new.

For individuals with intellectual disabilities, inclusion isn’t just important — it’s essential for belonging and acceptance.

On Wednesday, March 4, give a high five, offer a compliment, or simply say hi to someone new. Let’s make inclusion visible across Wakulla County Schools.

Students can sign the Pledge for Inclusion at their school and commit to choosing kindness, respect, and acceptance.

Across Wakulla County Schools, Career and Technical Education empowers students to explore career pathways, build real-world skills, and earn industry credentials — beginning with early exposure in middle school and expanding through the War Eagle Academy at Wakulla High School.

Students can pursue programs in aerospace technology, engineering, automotive and diesel maintenance, welding, HVAC, architecture and construction, digital design, web development, journalism and multimedia, hospitality and tourism, cosmetology, healthcare pathways including nursing assistant and phlebotomy, and more — with many opportunities to earn certifications and college credit while still in high school.

As Career and Technical Education Month comes to a close, we celebrate the students, educators, and community partners who make these pathways possible. This is workforce readiness in action. This is opportunity with purpose.

This is Wakulla — powered by public education.
